Riccardo Giovinetto is an acclaimed Italian visual and multimedia artist, physicist, and university professor whose works span audio-visual performances, installations, and concert compositions. His innovative approach involves creating sound-reactive sculptures through digital structures manipulated in real-time, fostering a unique relationship between sound and image.
FEMINA: A Solo Project of Mathematical Elegance
Giovinetto debuted his solo project FEMINA at the Ars Electronica Festival 2023, which was subsequently showcased at the L.E.V. Festival and MUTEK Montreal. FEMINA encapsulates a mathematical vision, exploring layers of Italian Renaissance masterpieces, notably Sandro Botticelli's "Primavera" and Domenico Ghirlandaio's "Portrait of Giovanna Tornabuoni."
OZMOTIC: A Collaborative Musical Duo
In 2010, Giovinetto co-founded OZMOTIC, a duo blending electronic and instrumental music, collaborating with philharmonic orchestras and international artists. Their third album, "Elusive Balance," was released by Touch in 2018, followed by "SENZATEMPO" in collaboration with Christian Fennesz in April 2023.
Educational Contributions
With 25 years of teaching experience, Giovinetto imparts knowledge in Acoustic Physics and Electroacoustic for Sound Engineers at Alto Perfezionamento Musicale in Saluzzo. He is also an Ableton Certified Trainer and a professor of Sound Design and Multimedia Installation at the SAE Institute in Milan.
FEMINA Exhibition at IOGINALITY: Curated by Anna Bouali
Location: IOGINALITY, in partnership with NFT ROME
Dates: Till November 30, 2024
The FEMINA exhibition extends Giovinetto’s acclaimed project, previously featured at Ars Electronica and L.E.V. Matadero. This exhibition delves into the mathematical intricacies of Italian Renaissance art, employing algorithms to uncover poetic and mathematical essences within masterpieces like Botticelli's "Primavera" and Ghirlandaio's "Portrait of Giovanna Tornabuoni."
Key Works in the Exhibition:
LIMINALITY: Explores the grace in Botticelli's "Primavera," creating a dialogue between divine imagery and sound-sensitive visual echoes.
FLURRY: Focuses on the goddess’s gaze, revealing emotional depth through a digital aesthetic.
IVY and IRIS: Investigate the detailed realism in Ghirlandaio's work, forging new relationships between painting techniques, the artist's gaze, algorithmic nature, and sonic patterns.
For the best viewing experience, it is recommended to use a large screen with headphones and notifications turned off. The exhibition culminates with live performance documentation, integrating event, sound, and image into dynamic NFTs.
